Designer Terri Ricci approached her project for an Aspen couple with a focus on storytelling, aiming to create a home that reflects their envisioned future lifestyle. The clients, who wanted a warm and inviting atmosphere despite the home's sophisticated design and stunning views, were guided by Ricci’s exploration of their imagined daily life and entertaining habits.
Ricci collaborated with architect John Rowland and builder Scott Scherer to adapt the original plans to suit the clients' desire for a relaxed yet elegant living space. The U-shaped design centers around a garden courtyard, serving as a welcoming prelude to the home and ensuring a clear visual connection through the space. The design also incorporates feng shui principles, aiming for a balance of glamour and tranquility.
The house features a thoughtful layout that transitions from expansive double-height areas to more intimate spaces like the kitchen and library. The master suite includes wellness amenities such as a yoga studio and a heated lap pool. Throughout the home, natural materials like European white oak floors and Calacatta gold marble are used, with a color palette of pale neutrals and jewel tones adding depth. Ricci mixed contemporary elements with antiques and eclectic accents, creating a timeless, curated feel. Her goal was to design a home that blends family-friendly functionality with sophisticated elegance, suitable for both day-to-day living and entertaining.
